Meet Kurt

Kurt Attaway is the Lead Pastor at The Vineyard Church Pearland (Pearland, TX).  Kurt and his wife, Lauren, are enjoying life with their four children (Canten, Emersen, Jaden and Andersen). Kurt and Lauren were married in 2006.  In 2007, Kurt joined the staff at The Vineyard Church Pearland. Kurt has a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and logged thousands of clinical hours as a Marriage and Family Therapist.

I earned a BA in Psychology from The University of Texas San Antonio. I attended UTSA on a full-athletic scholarship. My love for basketball opened doors to have a great career as a D-1 point guard. Playing in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament (aka March Madness) will always be a lifelong highlight, even if we lost to Stanford in the first round. Playing hoops at UTSA paved the way for me to participate in and lead Fellowship of Christian Athletes. God used those years to redirect my heart toward vocational ministry. I truly believe God called me into full-time ministry!

In 2012, I completed my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Houston Clear Lake. I spent 10 years being trained and practicing as a clinician. My time as a clinician shaped who I am today. I better understand what so many people experience daily and I know the tangible hope we are all looking for; a hope I find in Jesus and His kingdom! We all long for heaven and Jesus invites us to pray for heaven to come to earth.

In February 2020, I stepped into the Lead Pastor role after serving on staff as the Associate Pastor for almost 12 years. I love the city of Pearland and the growing community at The Vineyard. Beyond the local church, I have served in some national roles with Vineyard USA: currently I serve on the Multiply Vineyard Team and I have served as a Marriage Specialist.
